Healthy Communities executive director details efforts to combat suicide and smoking
MICHIGAN CITY — In 2015, about 3 million middle and high-schoolers used e-cigarettes. And between 2011 and 2015, e-cigarette usage increased 900 percent among high-schoolers.

For a number of years Healthy Communities of LaPorte County’s Covering Kids and Families Coalition has been housed at the Michigan Township Trustee’s office on 2601 E. Michigan Boulevard. Beginning Monday, September 23rd the Covering Kids and Families Coalition will join their lead agency Healthy Communities of LaPorte County in their 115 E. 4th Street office.

MICHIGAN CITY — Covering Kids and Families (CKF) of La Porte County recently received a $20,000 donation from MDwise, a statewide managed health care organization, to further its efforts to enroll more eligible children and families in the state’s Medicaid health plans.
LAPORTE — Healthy Communities of LaPorte County's database located on Healthy Communities' Web site at www.laportecounty.net offers more than 750 helping services available to area residents. There is an immediate critical need to update information on the database, as well as to include new services in the community.
Healthy Communities of LaPorte County is holding community meetings to gather input from residents about issues that they would like to see addressed in the future.
